The vehicle for doing so is the notorious and unjustly vilified “scheme.” Algebraic geometry has connections just as far ranging as those of its differential cousin. Applications in econ are relatively rare so far. yes but once you get into Finsler and spray geometry it is pretty esoteric, I think differential topology has probably been used more in econ Theorist at a top 30 here. The most novel developments occurred where creativity was strongest, in the art of the Italian Renaissance.

The second volume from this conference, also available from the AMS, is Volume 309 in the Contemporary Mathematics series. Methods of algebraic geometry rely heavily on sheaf theory and other parts of homological algebra. My lectures will follow from the overheads which I present in class. It is a pleasant book but the center is really the algebra, not the geometry. Thiago Filipe da Silva is a Brazilian from Espirito Santo state. Apollonius arrived only by bits and pieces. At least a small glance over it and some of its wonderful concepts will make you see the world with different eyes. There are many easily understood, unsolved problems concerning convex sets, geometric inequalities, packings and coverings, distance geometry, combinatorial geometry, the geometry of numbers, and other like branches of classical geometry.
