Mutual anathemas of 1054 between Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches lifted. They essayed to pass the barrier, and mingle on equal terms with those with whom they were to confer. As an individual who loves liturgy and common prayer but would not consider himself to be Anglican/Episcopalian nor necessarily a part of any of the classic liturgical denominations, I find this prayer book to be a refreshing look at the 'style' - if you will. All three (from my understanding) have an emphasis on missional living, intentional community, and the new monasticism. It was made possible by a revolution against French hegemony under the regime of the regent Mary of Guise, who had governed Scotland in the name of her absent daughter.

When I say "Liberal Protestant" what I mean by that is a Protestant who does not adhere to Protestantism as was historically taught, but rather clings to innovation and novelty in beliefs and practises, in keeping with the times and the spirit of the age. Good biographies enrich our understanding of their subjects by setting them against the wider canvas of their time. In other words, if we accept this as a viable model of our epistemic relation to the external world, how do we proceed from it to explain our access to those truths whose certainty goes beyond what can be experienced in sensible objects?
