These words both originated from a Greek word meaning ‘little table.’ The seventh question (Why do trapezium and trapezoid have the same first 6 letters?) was a complete surprise and helped me to see something that I had never noticed before. A group approach has motivational value apart from the need to use team learning (as noted earlier) to promote an understanding of how science and engineering work. Multiple days were set aside for this practice and all students were required to wear business suits in order to attend.

Students identified with specific learning disabilities perform lower and grow at a slower pace relative to their peers in learning mathematics. No ground is gained toward automatizing 2 x 3 = 6. Such an exercise meshes well with a first chapter on logic in many discrete mathematics texts, which often include homework problems such as ``Write the statement `If it is cold and raining, then I will stay home' in symbols, using the predicates, P: It is cold, Q: It is raining, R: I will stay home.'' By instilling critical thinking skills, our self-learning program frees students from many of the typical restrictions and limitations of education. The Mathematics Common Core Coalition works to provide expertise and advice on issues related to the effective implementation of the CCSS for mathematics. Once the students see that the quizzes are reasonably easy, they have incentive to come to class and listen carefully to what I am teaching. Explore cycle 2: Students use previously collected data from surveys and as a small group determine how to best display their data. Math at the simple sentence fact level is a much easier language than English.
